Western Studies, 1989. (The study) is a Western Landscape composed of American paintings of the West. I have included paintings by: Henry Farny (1847-1916) Days of Long Ago, 1903; Frederick Remington (1861-1909) Evening on a Canadian Lake, 1905; Frank Tenney Johnson (1874-1939) Cove in Yellowstone Park, 1938; Worthington Whittredge (1820-1910 Long's Peak, Colorado, 1866.

The study is oil on paper (sic.) (Typo? When labeling a35 mm slide, the artist identified the medium as acrylic on paper), 13 by 19.5 inches. The painting will be oil on canvas and will measure 26 by 40 inches. So far the title has not come to me, but it will during the painting. I read somewhere that in the West water at certain times of the day is the same color as the sky. The blue that flows from lower right to the left and then on right into the painting is the same blue as the sky and makes the dynamics of the composition.
