| Artist's Notes
Artist's title: After Vermeer. Painted December, 1971.
My painting is going very well. I have just completed a 6" x 8" composition of that Vermeer painting "Girl with a turban." The composition is showing the Vermeer girl at the right hand top, at the lower left the same girl is reversed, you see her back and 3/4 profile because she is looking at the original. It's like self-buttons (self covered buttons), but I don't have the nerve to call it self-buttons. So far it's called self-composition. (George Deem, letter to Jean Rigg, December 21, 1971).
