New York is hot and gloomy. I am working on a portrait of Mrs. Allan Stone, but it's become too hot for her to get to my studio this week. It is certainly different from (my portrait of)
Lady Dufferin because of her similar features to Julie Christie. So far it's very John S. Sargent I must admit. (George Deem, Letter to Sheridan and Lindy Dufferin, July 11, 1968).
"Mrs. Allan Stone" March 1969. The oval stops on the right, as in the photo. (The painting was) exhibited in my show (at the Allan Stone Gallery) in May 1969. (George Deem, letter to Udo Kultermann, April 6, 1971)
