George Deem made this plan of his schoolroom in 1942. He was then 10 years old. The drawing is dated 1942 on the lower right. The drawing was made in pencil which he then traced over in ink. George Deem identified the desk he sat at by the window wall with his initials G.D. In 2004 George Deem mounted the drawing on paper, signed it with the date 2004 in the lower right, and framed the work.
This is the earliest known surviving work from the hand of George Deem.
