Mike Ottensmeyer has published a novel, Melon Boys. Michael George is Mike's pen name. Mike dedicates the book to Bud (his father), and for the book's dust jacket he reproduces my 1966 painting Everybody in the Sun. On the front cover, from right to left are your Dad, your brother Paul, Prince the horse, and my Dad. On the back cover, again from right to left, are Emmett (Deem), standing next to Dad, then Tom the Horse, then Uncle Can (De Lisle) standing with his hand on his hip. It's one o'clock, right after dinner, and everybody is out in the sun, standing in the horse lot. Mike's novel is set in 1968, when he was a young man himself. (George Deem, letter to Cyrus Deem, Jr., September 30, 2007)
