The Silver Drawings
The light in summer in New Hampshire is strong and clear. The sun makes dramatic shadows. Late in the afternoon, in the slanting sunlight, very pure shadows show the thickness of each clapboard on the old wood buildings isolated in the landscape. I actually found the light on the white-painted clapboards to be silver. Come sundown and no direct sunrays, the hue of the clapboard walls can only be described as silver.
