Fall, 1968
In the stationer's in Cortona I was startled to look down at the counter and see my painting Statistical Landscape reproduced on the cover of a paperback book Che cos'e L'Ecologia. It was Udo Kultermann who named the picture when he saw it in my studio in New York in 1969: Statistical Landscape -- "probabilities rather than certainties." A good cover illustration for a book on ecology. (George Deem, "Extra Genre," WhiteWalls: A magazine of Writings by Artists #6, Chicago, Summer 1981).
