| Artist's Notes
Blue Vermeer shows all of Vermeer's full-length standing women. Each being in a different blue. Hanging on the wall in the painting at the left of the composition is Piero della Francesca's Battista Sforza, Duchess of Urbino. This painting is in Florence, Italy, at the Uffizi Gallery. She is the only person looking to the right. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I do. It's the use of the different blues that continues to excite me. (George Deem, letter to James Klump, September 30, 1983)
