Studio Visit There are two characters in my drawing Studio Visit. One is a woman seated beside a table, by the window on the left. I liked the table, I liked a small woman sitting by a table. But in my painting Studio Visit I eliminated this figure. I had to purify the painting so that the wall turns and disappears behind a vertical white line. (George Deem, Note written for use as wall text in the exhibition "George Deem and Peter Angelo Simon: Paintings and Photographs in Conversation" at the Evansville Museum of Arts and Science, Evansville, Indiana, 2001).
